It’s that time of year again to register for Holliston Youth Baseball and Softball for the spring 2018 season!  HYBSA provides opportunities for all Holliston boys and girls from currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 8th grade to participate in baseball and softball programs.  The spring season, which commences with indoor clinics in March, starts outdoor sometime in April (depending upon condition of fields) and continues through approximately the end of the school year, is grade-based and intended to be instructional.  The level of instruction, commitment, and competition varies with age and is summarized below.

T-ball – Grade: Kindergarten; Cost: $120 (Early Discount = $95 if register by 12/31/17)
This is a program for boys and girls currently enrolled in Kindergarten.  After a couple indoor introductory sessions in March (dates TBD), we will hold weekly clinic-style sessions on Saturdays from 1:00pm-2:30pm.  We strive for “teams” of 5-6 players with one or two coaches rotating through an offensive station, a defensive station and mini-games.  The stations are run by Holliston High School baseball players.  Our goal is to introduce the fundamentals of baseball and softball using small groups and small area games in a fun, dynamic environment.

Farm – Grades: 1st & 2nd; Cost: $135 (Early Discount = $110 if register by 12/31/17)
Farm Baseball is further divided into 1st and 2nd Grade Divisions.  Each will have a weekly team practice, a game on Saturday afternoon/evening, and a grade based clinic every other Friday.  We begin to teach pitching at the 1st grade level and kid pitch starts at the 2nd grade level (with coaches as relievers).
Farm Softball will hold two sessions per week, Sunday afternoon and Wednesday evenings at Patoma Park.  It is a clinic format, along with games being played in an instructional environment.  Kindergartener girls may choose to play farm.

Minors – Grades: 3rd & 4th; Cost: $180 (Early Discount = $135 if register by 12/31/17)
Minors Baseball typically has one team practice per week and two games per week.  At this level, the goal is to continue teaching fundamentals while participating in a more game-like experience.  There are playoffs at the end of the season.
Minors Softball participates in the Metrowest Girls Softball League, has one team practice per week, along with games with limited travel on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6pm.  Teams from surrounding towns play in this recreational league.

Majors – Grades: 5th & 6th; Cost: $190 (Early Discount = $145 if register by 12/31/17)
Majors Baseball typically has one practice as well as two games every week.  As with the younger levels, teaching the fundamentals are the primary focus.  However, at the same time, it is the programs goal at this level to try to keep “pace-of-play” at a high level.  There are playoffs at the end of the season.  Baseball players born between 5/1/05 and 8/31/05 are eligible to play either Majors (small diamond) or Seniors (big diamond) in the spring.
Majors Softball also have one practice as well as two games every week in the Metrowest Girls Softball League with limited travel.  Teams from surrounding towns play in this recreational league, with practices on Sundays, games on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and playoffs at the end of the season.

Seniors – Grades: 7th & 8th *; Cost: $195 (Early Discount = $155 if register by 12/31/17)
Seniors Baseball is played on the “big diamond” where leading, pickoffs, and stealing is taught.  *High School players must be 13-15 years old before 9/1/17 to play in our Senior League. HS boys who plan to try out for a HS teams must still register with HYBSA but are eligible to receive a refund or may transfer their fee toward the HYBSA Summer Program, if they make a HS team.
Seniors Softball also plays in the Metrowest Girls Softball League with limited travel on Mondays and Wednesdays, with playoffs.  Practices are on Sundays.
